Life Wisdom #2

  • Dec. 21st, 2009 at 10:50 PM
It has been a long time since I've made a video for my 'Wisdom' series, and this one is a little rushed. I just really felt the urge to watch some of my birthday film again. I can't believe how long it has been since that party... almost 4 years.

10 Question Holiday Meme [Thanks Sar :)]

When do you start decorating and putting up your tree?
Usually it's December 1st, not earlier not later. But things were pretty crazy this year, so my sister and I did it a few days later. It's one of my favourite times of year, because we put on old records and look through all our old Christmas art. This year we listened to the Beatles and I danced around in my jammies while wearing a Santa hat.

When do you take down your tree?
I usually have nothing to do with that. haha. The kids put up the tree, the mother takes it down.

How soon do you start shopping?
Groan. Christmas shopping. That's high up on my hate list. I hate regular shopping so much, Christmas crowds just add to my annoyance. This year I got it done really quickly though because I took Emily who is an Xmas shopping ninja. I also did some shopping online this year for the first time, which helped me get the purrrrrfect pressie for my best friend.

Favorite Christmas movie?
Home and Alone 2 :)
or, 'It's a Wonderful Life' sob sob sob. Most tear jerking movie of all time.

Favorite Christmas song?
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Judy Garland and no one else.

Egg nog or hot cider?
I don't think I've ever drunk either. For me, Christmas is a time for sparkly apple juice or iced teas. Too hot in Australia for hot drinks.

When do you open your gifts? Quickly or slowly?
Slowly. I like to undo sticky tape and straighten out wrapping paper.
Sometimes a present may get me really impatient though and I have to rip it open hehe

What do you usually do for Christmas dinner?
Christmas dinner has never been overly important to me, in our family it's Christmas lunch which is the big one. Every year since I was born I've spent Christmas in Sydney with my Grandparents and extended family (except for one year in Wingham with my Nanna and other 1/2 of my extended family) and we have a massive Christmas lunch. This year we'll be doing the same thing; lunch at my cousins house with lots of chicken and cherries and salmon and chocolate and crackers and party hats and jokes and of course, my uncle's famous ham :D

Any favorite traditions?
Walking around the neighbourhood looking at the Christmas lights, putting out our Christmas stockings, Lisa jumping on my bed at 6AM, water balloon fight after lunch, helping my cousins set up their new toys, Lisa's annual Christmas nap, cousins waking Lisa up from her annual Christmas nap, listening to Grandpa's christmas music, playing with the scary dancing Santa, falling asleep straight away after a long Christmas day.

What’s one thing you’d like this Christmas?
To see my friends opening their presents. And for Emily and Callum to be safe on their trip to Europe. And Bobo to be home soon. And a toaster.

Down on my knees, down on my face
You just say it's ok
So many days I've thrown away
You just say it's ok
I dont think I could ever repay
Your perfect grace, but it's ok

It's ok, It's ok
It's ok, It's ok
You've become my embrace
Just tell me it's ok

Your precious words intoxicate
A heart that aches; it's ok
You dont recall my past mistakes
You just say it's ok
The human mind cant calculate
Your perfect grace, but it's ok

Even though you've seen a thousand times
I've let you down
You're always there if I should call your name
Youre unashamed, unashamed

I've been in love before, but not like this.
I've had my heart connected to someone before, but I've never had someone's heart connected back.
I've had my heart broken before, but no one has ever put it back together again.
I've been loved before, but not like this.

Can't decide what to do with my hair....

The other day I dyed it red (a long time dream), but it didn't turn out the colour I was hoping... so I am tossing up between dying it dark brown again which is my favourite colour... or attempting to darken the red. sigh. it's difficult.

It would have been a lot easier if my hair had just turned the red I wanted it to in the first place!!!!!!

edit: lol. my mother just made an executive decision... back to brunette!
